YouTube and TV – 2 Competitive Forces

Teenagers are getting very active over youtube.

From 10 to 12 years of age, children start to move from “childhood”. Study shows that 29% of 12-15 year olds prefer YouTube videos as their top viewing choice.

It is the most widespread social network, checked weekly by approximately 30% more youngsters than any other surveyed site.

Only 25% chose TV according to latest Ofcom report. Also, teenagers turn to this platform when looking for precise data on significant or worrying issues taking place in the world. In 2014 only 3% admit this now more than 8%.

Most of the content on youtube is downloaded by individuals but as part of youtube partnership program it is possible to watch some BBC, Hula, Vevo material as well. Large group of people take advantage of it.

Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt publicly admits that Internet video has now displaced television watching. YouTube is placed in centre of interest its global reach, society engagement and enormous audience.
