Using Social Media Site LinkedIn’s Company Pages

If you are not already following a company on the massive social media site, LinkedIn, what are you waiting for? You can follow up to 2.8 million companies on LinkedIn, so why limit yourself to just a couple?

Follow companies that spread across more than 140 industries. Simply go to the search box at the top right of LinkedIn and type in the name of an industry, speciality, company size etc. Another way of locating companies to follow is to look at what companies for example your colleagues, boss, or partners are following.

Once you are following a company on the social media site, make sure you have a look at the people you know who are also following the company and use it as a way to set up a meeting etc. This is a great way of keeping in touch as well as seeking out potential business or job opportunities.

In addition, don’t forget to check out the news and product updates the company posts on its social media site, as this information can be a great way to stay ahead of important trends which impact the industries you care about, and provide inside information about a company, including its products and how it works.

Once you have access to this wealth of information about companies you care about, how can you use this to your advantage? Perhaps a company you are following has just launched a brand new product that has a huge impact on your sector. These are great pieces of information to share with your network, so you can be seen as someone with expertise and interest in your chosen industries and topics.

Alternatively, perhaps you’re just a huge fan of a company and their services. Tell your friends why you love the company and their products. Sharing great companies and products is an excellent way of demonstrating your expertise and knowledge, and it builds good relationships with your professional connections who value your opinion as a trusted resource.
