Quick Tips for new eBay sellers:

  • Research – Invest time on research. Check competitors, potential suppliers, customers.
  • Photography – always keep the flash on.
  • Provide an honest and detailed description of the item
  • Choose start and end time wisely
  • Be reasonable and honest, always answer questions from sellers. Be calm, diplomatic.
  • Accept Paypal, cheques and postal orders to fulfill most buyers’ expectations.
  • Subscribe to eBay’s “Selling Manager Pro”
  • Attention to detail with packing
  • Be on top of posting. Try to foresee problems before they happen
  • Feedback – be patient and build up your feedback bank. Leave positive feedback for buyers and hopefully they will return the favour.
  • Consider including a “freebie” in the parcel.
  • Don’t put reserve on your auction. It is a turn off to customers. Start your auction on minimum price.
  • Take time out from ebay. Buying, listing, invoices, dealing with customers can be very draining
  • Plan your pricing strategy, research.
  • Have clear policies
