Social Media: Which should your business use?

Social media platforms can enable your business to grow and expand across the world. Each platform has its own unique features, and attracts different audiences. And so, each business will thrive on different platforms.

So which platform is right for you business?

Google My Business

Google My Business is a social media suitable for practically any business. However, it is especially useful for local businesses who have a physical store (such as a restaurant), or that serve the area (such as an electrician).

These businesses benefit the most as it allows them to appear in Google’s local search results. If you have every looked up the opening times of a local store on Google, you will know how useful this is.

This also give the potential customer information including your address (as well as a direct link to directions) photos, opening times and reviews.

Facebook

As of the final quarter in 2018, Facebook had a total of 2.32 billion active users. It is the most popular social network as of today. This alone is enough to justify putting you business on here, as it is likely the majority of your customers will be on there, too.

Instagram

Instagram’s main focus is images. They are owned by Facebook, but very different.

Because pictures are the highlight of the network, it is great for strongly visual brands, such as makeup, food, or home brands.

Unless you have a very creative design team, it is unlikely that instagram will bring a lot of attention to brands that are not very eye catching to look at, such as accounting.

Instagram can also provide you with a great platform for your ads, which could allow you reach new customers.

And if your target audience is the younger generation, then this is a great place to find them.

Twitter

Twitters social media platform is a jack of all trades. Similar to facebook, you can post updates, links, photos, videos and send private messages.

One thing that twitter is famous for is tags and retweets. Customers of your can tweet you publicly and give you their opinion on their. If they are unhappy about something, it’s a great opportunity to show everyone how much you value your customers and show off your customer service.

As with all the rest, twitter has an ad platform. However, it is not as powerful as Facebook’s.

LinkedIn

This might not be the most popular social media platform, however, with 260 million monthly active users, it is certainly worth using.

Linkedin is aimed towards the business to business world. It is a fantastic platform to promote your business..

It is not ideal for business to customer brands, as the platform is a more professional environment.

You’ll have to ensure you create a business page, as a personal page will not have the same features.
