Social Media Site YouTube Joins 1 Billion Users Club
A few days ago, the social media video sharing site, YouTube announced that it has more than 1 billion unique users every month. That puts YouTube in the same club as Facebook, which surpassed 1 billion monthly users last October.
YouTube has been the most popular video site for a long time, beginning in the days when it was mostly user-contributed videos. These days, YouTube is where people go to watch music videos, film trailers, and various other kinds of videos.
The social media site which is owned by Google, attributed its large growth to “Generation C”, which is a term used to describe Americans aged 18 and 34. This goup of people have been said to have a unique embrace of all things digital.
On YouTube, this group of individuals is the ones that are watching YouTube videos across multiple device types including smartphones, tablets, and PCs. They also happen to be big on video creation, sharing, and curation of their favourite YouTube clips.
Last year, the number of Generation C viewers watching YouTube on mobile devices was equal to YouTube’s desktop viewership, according to Google. Approximately 67% of Generation C also watches YouTube on more than one device, compared to 53% of the rest of YouTube’s viewership.
