Setting up Google Analytics

The tracking itself is achieved by placing a piece of tracking code into each page you want to track.
This bit of code is also provided by Google.

To put it into your site, you need to be quite comfortable in HTML, or speak to a developer. The code is a piece of script that enables Googles search engines to ‘work’ efficiently with you regarding the visitors it’s sending to your site and then record and pass information to your Analytics account.

After you have installed the code, you then need to activate tracking in the Google Analytics account itself.

There are many things we can do with tracking. Newsletter signups, transactions and enquiries can be tracked and many more. We also can link AdWords, which is Googles tool for advertising, so that we can track how many people come via adverts to your site.
