Segmenting Your Email Marketing

Email marketing remains among the best tools for marketing your product or idea online but it is moving beyond just a generic newsletter run.

The biggest defining factor on why people subscribe to company emails is that they expected the content to be relevant to them and their needs. We’ve all seen those generic emails that get thrown into our in-boxes every day offering us all sorts of weird and wonderful items we have no interest in ever purchasing. Think about how many of these you’ve ever actually clicked on.

Segment Properly

Segmenting your emailing list is very important in ensuring that your subscribers only receive emails that contain content relevant to their needs. The limit to your segmentation is endless. You can segment for gender, location, demographic, age etc. as long as you have access to such information about your subscribers.

You can also setup specific lists based on peoples interactions with your website, i.e. – if they download a PDF on a particular topic then you already know that they have at least some interest on that topic and can send them more specific information on this.
