Penguin – is it mammal, bird or algorithm?
Google Penguin is the official name given to “The Google Webspam Algorithm “. Penguin focuses on the not sufficient, spammy links. The goal of the algorithm is to reduce the amount of spam results in Google search results.
It is important to know that Penguin is not a penalty it is only an algorithm.
The distinction between a manual penalty and algorithm it is very serious. Since it is an algorithmic penalty it is all about percentage of bad links pointing to the site.
We need a correct percentage of high- volume links vs spammy links.
If you wish to find out if your website has been effected by Penguin you can use a Google Penalty Checker tool to find out.
Webmaster tools wont be helpful because it is not a manual penalty. The reconsider request is only available for a manual penalty.
Recovery from a Penguin restriction is possible. Unfortunately it requires a lot of time and resources to attract the correct links.
The good link to bad link ratio needs to be favourable. It is very important to know exactly what type of penalty you’re dealing with before you start tackling the back-link profile.
