Building Paid Search Account for Beginners
Building out an account don’t have to be intimidating. It is easy to construct well-structured account especially that the structure can be changed and evolve over time.
Structure of account will:
- ensure that the searches triggering your ads are relevant
- improve your quality score
- make you well organized and able to optimize
Account structure has 6 main components:
- Ad Groups
- Negative Keywords
- Ad text (text that will appear when your ad is triggered)
- Landing Pages (destination where each ad will direct the searcher. Ads should be direct to an extremely relevant page)
It is very important to spend time planning account structure. You can based your proposal on the structure of your website, products, locations or services which you are offering. Keywords shouldn’t be too competitive or have low search volume.
Once you decide account structure with detailed keyword list, it is time to start build campaign. Examine type, location, languages, bid strategy and budget. Calculate how much you are willing to spend per day on the campaign. Ads are tied to a list of keywords within an ad group. Creating ads it is important to respect character limit, relevance, best practices. Add the relevant keyword list into the ad group.
You need to create a few ads in each ad group to compare performance. Once all ads are ready, you will need to navigate to Campaign settings by selecting the campaign on the left hand sidebar and then heat settings. Then choose delivery method.
