Internet users and usage
It’s incredible to think that internet users and usage now make up 57% of the global population.
The internet was first launched in 1993, it was fairly basic and easy to use for everyone. In 1995, the internet transformed with sites launching such as eBay and Amazon.
Since then, the internet users and usage has grown considerably as well as in versatility.
Bearing in mind the global population is 7.71 billion, there are 4.39 billion internet users. This is a 9% increase on last year. With mobile users forecasting to reach 5 billion by the end of 2019. An increase of 9% from last year for social media users. Mobile internet users make up about 52% of the total.
People, on average spend nearly 7 hours online each day. Most of the internet users and usage is with Google, YouTube and Facebook. In 2018, Google processed on average 40,000 search queries every second. This equates to approximately 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion search per year worldwide.
