Googles New Ad Options

 

Google Adwords is making a good number of changes. That will effect display and search advertising. Googles new ad options will please advertisers. They should help generate a larger audience as well as give greater control on device bidding.

Googles New Ad Options

They will be adding the option of seperately adjusting bids for Tablets, Desktops and Mobiles. Currently tablet bids are set by the desktop bid. Most advertisers know that performance on tablets is quite different to that on mobile or desktops.

This will improve ROI as far as we are concerned, particularly for ecommerce campaigns as here, in spite of huge growth in the numbers of searches performed on mobile and tablet, conversion remains typically some way ahead on desktop devices. This will allow advertisers that see poor performance on tablets push more spend to desktops or mobiles depending on ROI.

Other big changes comming are expanded text ads, and changes to the display network.

The Display network currently lets you theme and style image ads and use plain text ads, but for many sites these do not theme will into the site pages, so Google has used its wizardry to allow a new ‘intelligent’ ad option where you specify text, an image and a URL, and Google themes it to match the page style. These ads are responsive to cater for different viewing devices, whilst blending in smoothly with content. This also includes mobile aps so the scope is huge.

This is a natural step forwards for Google, who wishes to increase its presence on many sites and encourage owners to use Google to deliver ads, so this should allow for growth in the available audience.

The expanded text ads which have more characters are also comming and will give new creative freedom to copy writers and so it should be a busy few months for those in the digital marketing world!
