GMail Email Addresses Barred
If you are running email campaigns, the latest news is that you should use as your from email address your hosted domain address.
That rule is being adopted by GMail Email servers.
- Google has adopted DMARC regulations which are designed to stop spam.
- So for example, if you try to send a campaign using a GMail address as the from email you will be potentially blocked.
- Sending individual or one off emails will not incurr penalties, but regular large campaigns will be marked as spam.
Examples of how this would work is if you set up a campaign in a major platform like Mailchimp.
You must not use a GMail address, such as firstname.lastname@example.org.
You will need to set up an email address with your company domain in it to stay safe.
The rule only applies to emails sent via third party clients such as Mailchimp, GetResponse or Constant Contact. You dont need to worry about emailing people from your GMail account.
