The Sales Are Coming!

Google informs us that January in 2016 had 20% more traffic on its Shopping platform than in October 2015.  Heres some January Sales Google Tips to help you take full advantage.

The boost was pretty much seen across the board, the breakdown was as follows –

  • Electronics saw 22% growth
  • Home and garden 24%
  • Health & Beauty 26%
  • Vehicle & Parts 20%

Furniture was the biggest winner however – a whopping 39% increase in store visits via Google Shopping ads.

Advertisers can take advantage of these kinds of seasonal opportunities in a number of ways. One is using custom labels to mark out products you expect to sell best at certain times. By reviewing your annual data for different product ranges you can label cetain items in your feed, then build a campaign using the custom label field to specifically promote those items at certain times.

Monitoring Click-Share at these times can show if you are losing opportunities at your best times, and if so the easy remedy is to apply price increases to those normally profitable items your falling behind in.

Advanced Tactics!

Remarketing lists are also useful. Applied to Shopping Campaigns these boost your bids to certain groups of past visitors, based on rules you specify. With remarketing lists you can build lists from visits that occured over 1 year previously

You can increase the bids when you want to promote certain items at these times to past site visitors, buyers and other lists you have customised. To do this, apply unique bid adjustments to the remarketing lists you have set up in your seasonal, custom-label filtered shopping campaigns to gain tight control over your reach and help retain those hard won customers! Get creative to improve your targeting. For example if you have new mods or upgrades in January offers, build an ad group for those products and create a remarketing list based on buyers leading up to Christmas, or you can create a list based on visitors of a particular page and who then went through checkout. This gives you the opportunity to target particular product owners.

For example, if you sell NERF Guns to for Xmas, you can now target them Mods and NERF bullets in January!
