Creating SEO Friendly Content

It can sometimes be hard to get the right balance between writing engaging, exciting, interesting content while keeping it optimised for SEO and to make it visible to Search Engines. What’s the point of writing the next greatest novel if no-one is ever going to find it or read it? Hopefully the tips below will help you to achieve both.

1. Keep it relevant

Since Google Panda updated its search algorithms this has become more important than ever. Although this may seem like a strange point to make in this article, try to forget about SEO when you first write your content and write what you know your visitors will want to read and what stirs up the passions inside you for the project. Make sure you do your research and listen to what people are asking for through Social Networks or comments on your own site and write for the people that visit your site to keep them coming back.

2. Be Unique

Trying to be unique is a very tough task, especially with the wealth of information and countless number of blogs and articles on the web these days that cover almost any subject. If you are not a naturally great designer or writer then this task becomes even harder, but a few ideas can include creating your own or having someone create for you your own infographics, high quality videos, photography and illustrations for your blog/site. Again, your goal here is to keep visitors coming back.

3. Web Writing

Once you have your original content from point 1 now you can start to make it more web friendly. People using the web don’t like to read a page full of text, try to split up your content with images, snappy headlines, videos, graphics or anything you can find that you feel would make a user like being on your page, but don’t over do it. If they like the look of your page and it feels comfortable on the eyes, users are likely to stay and read what you have to stay and also to return another day or read other articles you have written.

4. Keywords

After you’ve done your research from point one about finding out what it is that your users are exactly looking for then the next step is to make sure your pages include these keywords correctly. These keywords can be essential in getting a higher ranking and becoming visible. Make sure you include your keywords in your title, headlines and anywhere important so that the Search Engines can get a better understanding about what your webpage has to offer.

Don’t keyword stuff or in simple English, don’t put your keywords all over the place and make the content seem unnatural. Search Engines have become very clever beasts over the years and can actually downgrade websites based on factors like this.

Also, as we mentioned in a previous article on optimising your image’s for SEO make sure that all your alt and title tags have keywords included also.
