A new, premium 90 second Amazon Ad format is currently being beta tested. They will show in prominent positions below the fold on Amazon.
Advertisers can now promote their products more generally within the platform. However at present the offering is limited to very high spend clients. The ads are also used to promote products like Amazons Echo.

If you have a cool $35,000 ad budget then Amazon will let you use this feature.
These ads are similar to the fees used by supermarkets to allocate shelf space for manufacturers goods, which can often provide more profit than in actually selling those items.
This gives a good idea where Amazon is heading. Paid ads on the platform is the fastest growing division. It brings Amazon in $2 Billion annually.
You can also drive traffic to an external site from within Amazon using its ads platform.
Current Ad Formats
The ad formats include static ads (Display), video and other formats called ‘lockers’ and ‘boxes’. Lockers means ads that appear on Amazon lockers where people collect their parcels. Boxes are quite literally ads on boxes that Amazon uses to ship its products.
