Amazon Product Listings Tips

Today half of all online shopping searches start directly on Amazon. There is a lot of opportunities for sellers, but it also means that it is a dog-eat-dog world out there.

It is important that the product listing stand out. Titles, Images, and Customer Reviews need to be almost perfect. There are a number of elements which can make difference.

Title:

  • cannot be longer than 200 characters
  • Capitalize the first letter in each word but don’t capitalize all the letters in a word. The exception to this is words like “and”, “for”, “the”, “an”, and “in”. These words should be in lower caps.
  • Use numbers, not words (1 instead of one)
  • If the product is a pack, state how many items are in the pack
  • Spell out measurement words such as “inch”
  • Include size and colour if it is relevant and/or the product comes in multiple sizes or color options
  • Avoid special characters (“!”, “?” etc). This includes “&”.
  • Don’t include price, Information about you, Subjective commentary

You should include a number of elements in your titles to optimize them for Amazon:

  • Brand name
  • Keywords
  • Model numbers and other descriptive elements (colour, quantity, or size variations)

 

Image:

  • Use a pure white background.
  • make sure you use good resolution when the customer zooms in.
  • Use as many images as you are allowed
