Pinterest, a fairly new image sharing social site, has created quite a stir, and some brands are using the platform for customer engagement.  One of Pinterest’s biggest advantages is the demographic. Try holding a contest as this is a creative way to use Pinterest. Encourage users to browse your site and create pins of items they like. The most creative entries win prizes. This will engage your audience and get them to visit your site, browse your products and link to them, which are all good for your brand.

It is however important to review any site’s Terms of Service if you are planning to run a contest on their platform.

3. Feature Customers

A good way to appeal to this demographic is to make them feel special. Feature customers on your Pins and showcase customer purchases that epitomise their style. You could also pin photos of products that go well together and that the customer recommends.

4. Personalise Your Brand

Use Pinterest to showcase your style, i.e. what makes you stand out from other brands and what your brand represents etc. Use it as an opportunity to highlight your employees too. Pinterest makes it easy to put a face to your brand.

5. Promote Your Image Content

Pinterest allows you to feature all of your image content in one place for easy access. Do your research and see how other brands are using Pinterest to share their image content by browsing a few of their brand pages.

Stylists and fashion editors etc. can feature their image content to help them sell their services. Their ability to put together an outfit can come across easily through a board on Pinterest. The possibilities can be never-ending.

6. Sell More Products

By adding a “£” or “$” to your Pin description, Pinterest will automatically create a price banner for your photo. In the gifts section of Pinterest users are then able to see your products and you may sell some of them if you do the job correctly. The right way to do this is by putting a link to the site where a user can buy your product. Do not forget to take down the Pin once you sell the product though, if applicable. Using Pinterest in this way is great for artists, designers, estate agents and many other people.
