5 Tips For Effective Facebook Posts

1. Post Outside of ‘9-5’

Studies have shown that 65% of Facebook users only access the site out of work or school hours, i.e. morning or evening. It therefore makes sense that posting only during standard business hours may be causing you to miss out on a large portion of your target market.

Further findings revealed that brands that posted outside of business hours had engagement rates of approximately 20% higher than average.

2. Instruct Fans On What To Do

If you want your fans to “Like” your post, tell them to do so. Alternatively, if you want to encourage comments or shares, ask for them to do just that.

3. Ask Poll Questions

Facebook gives page administrators the ability to create polls and ask questions. Make use of this type of post to get feedback, recommendations, and learn from your Fans.

When asking poll questions, use words such as “why,” and “when,” as these kinds of words typically drive higher engagement.

4. Use Videos And Images

Videos and images are is highly engaging, and the use of images has become much more prevalent on social networks, including Facebook. The site stated that more than 300 million photos are uploaded to Facebook every day.

Studies have also shown that photos account for an average of 50% more impressions than any other post type, along with 22% more interactions.

5. Share Posts By Other Pages

In the way that Facebook users can “Like” pages, fan page administrators can like other pages as well. Doing this gives them the ability to share content from those pages on their own Timeline.

This is good practice, as the fact that you have shared the post is highlighted on the other page, which can lead to more traffic to your page and further increase the chance for engagement.
