Emojis, smiley faces in subject lines. Is it good idea? Study shows that about 5% of global subject lines over the last 12 months include one or more emojis. There are highly adopted and fun. Many people love this little pictures. It’s obvious that there’s a huge market of people using emoji, for all different reasons.

  • firstly they have potential to spike open rates by about a quarter of a standard deviation.
  • secondly, they make a good subject line better. If your subject lines are appropriate and  emojis are contextually relevant then they can improve your results.
  • also, they are the biggest linguistic revolution since the QWERTY keyboard, and they are shaking things up and fundamentally changing how we communicate. But they need to be use wisely.
  • in addition, emojis can make a bad subject line worse. An emoji ain’t gonna make awful subject lines good. It’ll work once, maybe twice but not forever.
